Erectile dysfunction in older men is fairly common as half of all men around 40 to 70 experience it to some varying degree and frequency as it increases with increase in age.
Erectile dysfunction in young men under 40 is not as common as those occurring in older men. It does occur due to some factors that are mostly related to lifestyle, physical health, mental health and so on.
According to a 2013 study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, showed that about 26 percent of younger men suffer erectile dysfunction, even though the younger men were physically healthier and had higher levels of testosterone than their older counterpart. At least half of them due to their smoking and use of illegal drugs had a more severe condition of erectile dysfunction.

Sometimes the use of various Viagra-type drugs can be very effective. However if after a month of usage there is still no improvement then there is need to search for other root causes that will ultimately lead to a cure.
In treating Erectile dysfunction, there is need to check for the common risk factors that include, smoking and drinking alcohol, Diabetes, High blood pressure, etc. when all these boxes have been ticked then a further probe can be done.
The penile ultrasound test may be done to check for abnormal penile blood supply.
When the young man does not show any signs of having any of the physical conditions that lead to ED but instead show signs of depression and stress, guilt about sex, performance anxiety, fear of loss of control, then consultation with a mental health expert is the best move.
Communication is also key a relationship and seeking couples counseling is important and can produce some great results.
